Chris Heuer and Kristie Wells started
Social Media Club (SMC) in March 2006 to host conversations around the globe that explore key issues facing our society as technologies transform the way we connect, communicate, collaborate and relate to each other.
The first chapter launched in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA (USA) on August 16, 2006. There are 200+ chapters in existence today, and we cover six of the seven continents. In 2007, the French local chapter,
SMC France, was created in Paris by Pierre-Yves Platini and Alban Martin. Social Media Club France focuses on a more profesionnal audience gathers over 200 co-opted members.
Social Media Club’s primary mission is to promote media literacy, promote standard technologies, encourage ethical behavior and share best practices. We bring together journalists, publishers, communications professionals, artists, amateur media creators, citizen journalists, teachers, students, tool makers, and other interested collaborators.
